Our History:Action Coffee Service is in its 36th year of business. We have been roasting our own gourmet coffees for over 20 years. We are a family business, started by Charles and Annette Thurston in 1969, selling coffee and allied products to offices and restaurants in the Kansas City metropolitan area. In 1985 we purchased a Royal No. 5 roaster; a true antique that we still use today for small batches of our gourmet coffees. All coffees are roasted to a specific color by our experienced "Roastmaster" to ensure the perfect roast and desired taste. We are now in our second generation of ownership and management here at Action Coffee. Bud Thurston has been with the company for over twenty years, president since 1985, and actively manages the business on a daily basis. We still sell many institutional coffees to offices and restaurants in the Kansas City area, but the bulk of our business is gourmet coffees and related products for coffee houses, espresso bars, gourmet coffee shops, offices and individuals. We ship our gourmet coffees nationwide, guaranteeing freshness and quality. We stand behind our products and service. If you ever have a problem, it's not difficult in our small company to get to "the top." About Us:
Royal Drummer Gourmet Coffees were first roasted in Kansas City in 1985. The name Royal Drummer comes from one of the most notorious of the coffeehouses that spread rapidly through Paris in the early 1700's. While other coffeehouses appealed to artists and intellectuals, the "Royal Drummer" was known for its vices and excesses. King Louis XV and Marie Antoinette were frequent if not constant visitors, the latter when a particularly wild party was in progress. We purchase our green coffee from several different importers who bring in large quantities of high quality coffees from around the world. All of the coffees are cupped and only the finest are purchased and sold as Royal Drummer Gourmet Coffees. Buying from large distributors such as these allows us to purchase as little as one bag of a less popular but important coffee for our inventory. About Our Coffee:We believe that freshness is very important in an excellent gourmet coffee, and use both a large batch and small batch roaster to roast our coffees. By using this system we can assure you that you are getting the freshest coffee possible. Our coffees are roasted to the optimum color and temperature for each varietal. We can also custom roast to your specifications and blend your favorite coffees. Our coffees are shipped in heat sealed, flavor preserving bags, whole bean or ground.
